DIY – Home Solar Hybrid – Standalone – Grid Tie – Done!!

Well, I think I’ve finally finished my home solar project. After doing a lot of reading, I believe I have an otherwise decent and safe system. I tried to design it around the NEC’s Article 690 as much as “practical”. I’ve added additional components, and changed a few things around. It’s been an enjoyable and worthwhile learning experience. I read “free” books on design, operation & maintenance, and safety, along with referencing the National Electrical Code in relation to PV systems. After playing with my new Grid Tie inverter, I’m convinced that it’s a good addition to any system that produces 500+ Watts of power. My system is not the best and my way is not the only way to implement a home system, but I hope my ideas helps someone along the way. For those that wish to truly learn about Stand-Alone PV system design etc, the following are excellent free books I downloaded and used:
1.) Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems – (by Sandia National Labs)
2.) Maintenance And Operation of Stand-Alone Photovoltaic Systems (Sandia)
3.) Working Safely with Photovoltaic Systems (Sandia National Labs)
4.) Photovoltaic Power Systems And the 2005 NEC: Suggested Practices

Simply google the titles and download the pdf’s, and your good to go. Good Fortune, and have fun.

How to Build a Solar Powered Battery Charger – Make a Homemade DIY Solar Battery Charger

Visit – http://www.SolarEnergyGuide.net – Homemade solar power reduces the power bills and protects the environment from depletion. There are many benefits in building homemade solar power. First it saves your money spent in buying costly equipments available in the market to generate electricity from solar power. You can generate the electric power required to run the electrical appliances. You need not produce electricity in surplus. A long as the sun is available we can generate as much electric power as possible. It is very easy to make homemade solar power. To create solar power at home we need to construct a solar panel. The tools required include solar panel, Rechargeable lead or acid battery, Battery box, DC meter and Inverter.First you need to purchase a solar panel. The size of the panel depends on how much electricity you are going to generate. Next we go for a rechargeable battery. This battery can be used continuously used instead of going for a disposable battery. This battery stores the excess electricity produced when the sky is cloudy. Next we have to purchase a battery box. This offers protection to battery when it is recharged. This prevents the batteries from getting damaged. Then a DC meter is used to convert the energy and make it available to all the electrical appliances around your house. If your are going to use the electric power to your household appliances then we need a inverter to convert the DC into AC.Now the next step is to attach the DC meter to the top of the battery box. Use insulated wires to connect the battery to the DC meter. Don’t forget to connect the DC inlet and the panel to the battery. Now place the entire setup facing the sunlight. Make sure that it is positioned at a place where there is maximum sunlight. Keep it in the sunlight for more than ten hours to get some home made power. Solar panels are built at home as an alternative means of generating electric current. Solar panels can easily be constructed at home and requires little knowledge electrical wiring. Most of the tools are easily available in the market. Initially it might be slightly difficult but you can learn more from your mistakes. After successful completion you can help out your neighbors to construct a solar panel to create homemade solar power. Since most of the people are not aware of its benefits you can take some time to make them understand how useful it will be if they had a solar panel to generate current for their home. A visit to http://www.SolarEnergyGuide.net will give you an excellent insight as to how to create a homemade solar panel effectively.energy bill eliminate power solar panel panels wind turbine alternative efficient efficiency renewable system how to build electricity earth home technology off grid electric bills reduce earth4energy generate energy bill eliminate power solar panel panels wind turbine alternative efficient efficiency renewable system how to build electricity earth home technology off grid electric bills reduce earth4energy generate Greenhouse For Winter

Solar Power Systems for your Home

“http://jsamplesjr.com/solar” – The complete solar power system has different components.

Most people implement a few of these components as per their needs.

Lets look at the various solar power components.

Solar cooker: The solar cooker is the most popular solar energy system implemented at homes.

Lets look at its advantages:

Healthy cooking The food cooked using a solar cooker is considered very healthy.

Variety cooking You can boil, roast, and bake using the same system!

No fuel – The solar cooker does not use any other fuel other than the suns light, thus helping you save power.

No emissions – The solar cooker neither emits any gases nor does it leave any residue. It makes for the most environment-friendly cooking system.

Solar generator: The solar generator is a device that runs all your electrical appliances using the solar energy.

The solar generator is also referred to as the solar lighting system.

Solar thermal system: Implementing a solar thermal system or solar heating system at home takes care of your homes temperature needs.

How to Build a Solar Powered Battery Charger – Make a Homemade DIY Solar Battery Charger

http://www.SolarEnergyGuide.net – How to Build a Solar Powered Battery Charger – Make a Homemade DIY Solar Battery Charger One of the most interesting projects for both solar energy and do-it-yourself enthusiasts is learning how to build a solar powered battery charger. It seems to be like a project within a project. Solar powered appliances rely on solar panels which act as a form of battery, storing electrical energy to later run appliances. To make a solar powered battery, then, is like building a battery within a battery. And while solar battery chargers are readily available for purchase in the market, building a homemade DIY solar powered battery charger can still prove to be more cost-efficient.

You will need solar cells for this project. Other materials are gauge wire, duct tape, soldering iron, a window frame, cardboard, blocking diode, a battery holder, and a multimeter.

The window frame will serve as the holder of all components. Lay out the solar cells on the frame. You will need to wire the solar cells together to create a power source. Wire the cells by soldering them from the back and then the next one to the front, and so on. The solar cells must be wired in parallel in order for the amps to be increased. To do this, intertwine the positive wires together. Do the same to the negative wires. Connect the end of the positive wire to red lead of the AA battery holder and then the negative end to the black lead. Attach the blocking diode to the negative lead of the battery.

It is essential to remember that in the process of making a homemade DIY solar powered battery charger, the surface of the solar panel must not be overlooked. Therefore, the solar cells must be duct-taped and pressed onto a cardboard for a flat panel surface. Like always, you must remember to place your solar powered appliance in a location where maximum exposure to direct sunlight will be achieved. Also remember to check if the cells are working properly. You may do so with the multimeter. And like every do-it-yourself project, remember to test out the device every now and then to see if there is anything faulty along the way. The earlier you check for errors, the earlier you can remedy them. Some of the materials are not cheap, and it will be a great waste if the entire project will have to be done by the end when a remedy could have been made somewhere in the beginning.

The business of how to build a solar powered battery charger relies greatly on the type of solar cells you use, and how careful you are in assembling them together on the flat, cardboard surface inside the window frame. Some people choose to make solar cells from their kitchen materials. But for this particular project, it is highly recommended that you use the commercially-available solar cells rather than utilize what could be a faulty product of your kitchen experiment.

Did you know that it is very possible now to build your own solar powered home easily and with little cost? You can help save the environment and also your wallet. How to Build a Solar Powered Battery Charger – Make a Homemade DIY Solar Battery Charger
