If you connect a solar panel directly to a car battery, it will eventually overcharge the battery and damage it. That’s why you need to use a solar charge controller. This is my own design using the latest microcontroller and MOSFET circuitry. It consumes less than 1mA (that’s very little) and has a neat little blue LED that tells you the battery voltage. It can also be connected in various different configurations so you can do clever things like charge two batteries from one solar panel.

Electric Bike engineering a Hybrid Solar Electric Mini Pocket eBike Vehicle
It is a modified solar powered electric razor scooter that is definitely faster than a segway,bmx or unicycle. No accidents so far. Can race cars across the street on a green light only using a 350 watt DC brushed motor.
Not saying it can race a hayabusa motorcycle or a supercar like a bugatti veyron or lamborghini.. or that it should be on a top gear challenge in 2010 or 2011 or anything near that calibre.. well discovery channel maybe in 2012. It is very close to being an 25 lbs ultra portable survival vehicle. A hybrid solar electric pit bike, pocket bike, or electric scooter but engineered into a complete package like no other.
