Charging Two Batteries with one Solar Panel

To charge two batteries from one solar panel, you need two solar charge controllers. My new PWM5 controller has been specifically designed to be used in this configuration. Both batteries are individually monitored and controlled to ensure optimum charge rate and voltage. This is a common configuration on boats. One battery is used to start the engine and the other is used for navigation electronics or TV/fridge.

Solar powered battery recharger. Where can I find one at?

For NiMh batteries like AA, AAA, C, D, and 9v. Does anybody like Duracell or Energizer sell battery rechargers that work off of solar power instead of AC power?

I have about 20 solar garden lights with rechargeable AA batteries so I can only charge these at the moment. Not sure how long it takes to charge them

Solar Power – How many watts, panels and batteries do you need?

A short tutorial on building your own solar power system at home. It’s a little more complex than the simplified instructions here, but they ought to give you a basic understanding of the procedure followed to determine a- the amount of power (watts) you use at home, b- the number of solar panels you’ll need, and c- the number of acid-lead batteries you’ll need.

My site (http://nature-log.blogspot.com) has some other information about solar power, in case you’re interested!

The music is Twista – Creep Fast (Instrumental). No copyright infringement intended.

P.S. If you have any questions, be sure to let me know. I’ll try help you the best I can. Cheers!

How many solar panels and what size back up battery to run my electric smoker on solar power?

You won’t like the answer to this one. Assuming 1500 watts for 6 hours, in the summer, you’d need about 2500W of solar panels (at $3 a watt, that’s $7500), and 450ah of batteries at 48V, probably about $4000). Then there’s a charge controller and inverter, add another $2000.

Equipment that makes heat or cold are the most power hunger appliances. It’s really hard to take them off-grid, especially something that runs for such a long time like a smoker.

Get a wood burning smoker and do it the old fashioned way.
